May Challenge

Welcome to our May Challenge and my huge apologies for posting a few days late.

As normal please note the 'Challenge Rules' tab (above), it would be great if you could pop by and check out the rules if this is your first time taking part, they are pretty straight forward but we want to make sure that the challenges are fair to everyone.

Please upload your projects to your blog and then link them here by using the linky widget at the end of the post. Please make sure you are linking direct to your project post and not just to your blog. If you don't have a blog then you can still enter by emailing us your projects to
sales@trulymadlycrafty.co.uk. You will have 1 month to upload your projects.

Winners will be randomly selected, using random.org, from all the entries and be announced on the blog.

Right, this month our challenge theme is:

Five

We want you to use 5/Five on your project. That could be in the title that could be 5 of an item e.g. 5 buttons, that could be 5 pictures, 5 words, 5 products etc. Have fun and show us how you can use 5!

Here are some examples from the DT:

Alexa has used 5 photos on her layout and used lots of lovely American Craft Dear Lizzy products which fingers crossed should be with us in the shop soon!

Jules has managed to use lots of 5's in her fab layout.
5 papers from the Echo Park 'This&That Graceful' collection, there are 5 small hearts among the ink splatters, the word 'five' and the number 5 both make an appearance more than once (including the title), and last but not least, thanks to the wonders of Photoshop, there are 5 versions of my dog, Mojo, in the photo!

Tracy has created this gorgeous little canvas using 5 elements:
1.patterned paper
2.stickers
3.Flower embellishents
4.Chipboard
5.little pearl

I can't wait to see how you use 5 in your projects!

This month our prize, inkeeping with the 5 theme, will be a £5 voucher to spend on ANYTHING in the Truly Madly Crafty shop!

Please use Inlinkz below for your entry and remember your link must be direct to your entry and not just to your blog. You have until Saturday 2nd June at 10pm to get your entries in.

Right, this month our challenge theme is:

Handmade Flowers

We want to see you get creative this month and make your own flowers for your project, you can make them from any materials and in any way you choose.

Lets see what our Design Team have done:

To make my flower I used a mistable trim from Pink Paislee. First I misted it. Then I twisted it in to a flower shape. You will need a piece of card cut into a circle. Apply a liquid adhesive to the circle so that your trim will stick to it. Start with one end of the trim in the middle of the circle you have cut from card. Wrap the trim around itself in a circle to form a flower shape, sticking it down as you go. I finished it off by sewing a button in the middle. This method will also work with ribbon or fabric.

To make the flowers I used old book pages as the base. I then coloured them with watercolour crayons and blended the colours with water and a paintbrush. When the pages were dry, I cut out different sized circles and inked the edges before scrumpling them up. I then chose 2 or 3 circles of different sizes, added a button and sewed them together with embroidery floss.

Colour Inspiration

Use the colours in the picture below as inspiration for your project.

Here are some projects from our Design Team to help give you some inspiration:

Alexa

I didn't really have any embellishments in the right colour that would go with my theme so I decided to improvise with what I had and made my own. The little yellow star was made by attaching some washi tape to white cardstock and then punching through it. The larger teal star was made using a similar technique, but instead of using washi tape I used a rub-on. This is a great way to stretch your supplies!

Annie

Annie has used American Crafts Dear Lizzy, Elle's Studio journalling spot and date tag, punched hearts, and some Echo Park stickers.

Jules

Tracy
I hope you have been inspired by the DT creations and I cannot wait to see your designs!

This month we have 2 prizes to give away and a fab new sponsor!
